Mountain Casket

Inside this casket a secret note reads: 

“As whatever you may find takes up residence inside this mountain, know that it is yours and that you have come home. Remember, reciprocity among parts of the living Earth produces equilibrium, in which life as we know it can flourish. Your right to roam is a collaboration with nature itself.”

In response to the work of artist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, this mountain, like her work, also addresses the myths of our ancestors in the context of current issues, including land reform in Scotland and the natural environment.

Materials: Jesmonite AC100, acrylic paint, brass feet, newsprint note.
